Denyse “Saucy Wow” Belfon burst on the scene in 1995 with a spicy number Ka Ka Lay Lay. She followed this with a string of raunchy soca hits that at times had the traditionalists embarrassed. The recording producers recognised her potential and she became one of the most sought after performers. She possesses a clear strong voice, a charming personality and the ability to move on stage in a special way. She has matured in her craft and will continue to lead the female thrust into the soca world.

Relatively new on the scene, Destra Garcia, is the classic case of a female band singer who worked her way to the front. After a couple years on the supporting cast of the Roy Cape All Stars band she propelled herself forward in 2002 with a super hit, Tremble it. This proved to be the catalyst for her transformation to a solo artist. After doing the customary tour of the soca world she opted to maintain her solo career while doing vocals with established band Atlantik. In 2003 she launched her first Compact Disc which included the hits Choo Choo and Whe Yuh Want. But it was the late release, Carnival, which featured megastar Machel Montano that almost earned her the roadmarch title in 2003. She was the first runner-up.

The latest songstress to grace the soca stage is Faye-Ann Lyons, daughter of soca monarch and roadmarch multiple winner, Super Blue. A Point Fortin product, the home of many soca greats, her career began at the turn of the millennium. In 2003 she became the third female to win the coveted roadmarch title with Display, her own composition. A member of the band Invazion, she is well poised to make her mark among the female charges that plan to make a reality of her 2002 hit, My Time.
