Tatil gets World Rating from A. M. Best
A.M. Best Co., the world's oldest and most authoritative insurance rating and information source has affirmed the financial strength rating of A - (Excellent) for Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Limited (TATIL). According to A.M. Best, the rating reflects TATIL's consistently favorable operating results, strong risk-adjusted capitalization, conservative reinsurance protection and its position as a subsidiary of the financial giant - the ANSA Mc Al Group of Companies.
Ray A. Sumairsingh, Financial Services Sector Head of the ANSA McAl Group of Companies and TATIL Director, expressed the company's agreement with the renewed rating, which was confirmed by A.M. Best on December 20th 2006. According to Mr. Sumairsingh, "Tatil has consistently delivered strong technical profits on its underwriting and maintains a very impressive balance sheet."
In affirming Tatil's A - rating, A.M. Best noted that Tatil is an insurer of personal and commercial lines in Trinidad and Barbados. According to them, the company's prudent underwriting philosophy and conservative risk management has resulted in favorable underwriting results for the past several years. In addition, steady appreciation of capital has been reported during the latest five-year period.
TATIL's geographic areas of operation and risk management approach have also insulated the company from catastrophic losses in the region, the rating company said. With all of its business produced in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados, the company is less susceptible to frequent and severe weather-related events as historical patterns. Furthermore, as a member company of the ANSA McAl group, TATIL enjoys support and synergies arising from cooperation with affiliated companies.
