 | Parking Your Car - Park you car in an area visible to you or around a group of people.
- Avoid leaving valuable items in your car in full view of passers-by.
- Keep your keys in your hands when approaching your car so that you can quickly enter and lock door upon entry.
- Scan the area before entering your vehicle.
Avoiding Car Theft - Ensure that the windows and doors are securely locked whenever you exit your car even when you are at home.
- Avoid purchasing vehicles, which have a higher likelihood of theft than others.

- Secure your vehicle insurance certificate in a place other than the glove compartment. In this way thieves cannot present them if stopped by the police.
- Disconnect either the battery or the coil wire from the distributor cap if you need to leave your car unattended for a prolonged period.
- Etch the vehicle registration number onto the windows, doors and fenders of your vehicle with an electric engraver for extra protection.
- Avoid parking your car in lonely areas.
- Be especially careful when parking at malls, nightclubs and at late-night parties.
- Try to park where it is relatively busy and/or under street-lights.
Safety on the Road - Ensure that your vehicle is well maintained to prevent breakdowns.
- Ensure your lights (including indicator lights) and brakes are working properly.
- Select your routes carefully. Busy well-lit roads are recommended.
- Keep your windows and doors rolled up whenever possible.
- Remain in the center lane whenever possible. This decreases the opportunity for carjackers to approach you in traffic.
- Monitor your mirrors occasionally for any suspicious activity around your vehicle.
- Drive to a police station or busy public place if you think you are being followed.
- When in traffic leave enough space in front of you so that you can maneuver quickly.
